The Port Morris Branch is a freight line that lies between the area just south of the Bruckners in Port Morris, north to 163rd Street in Melrose. It’s a tunnel and cut system, and was shut permanently in 2004, having been slowly becoming useless because it couldn’t accomodate the larger modern rail cars.
By 2021 all access ends around 153rd Street where new development, Villa Verde, etc., has buried the line, which does pick up again as a tunnel, snaking through and around the the Court House, becoming a visible cut at the 42nd Precint police headquarters and continueing north until it ends in Melrose around 162nd Street. Unfortunately these sections are inaccessible. As a result i went as far as the new development area around 153rd, and beginning around 135th street in Port Morris.

Essentailly the cut is buried just after it emerges close to street level around 153rd Street. It does pick up again beyond the buildings in the background, but is difficult to enter.
