A bristlecone pine’s wood is dense, slow-growing and pretty much dessicated at an elevation of 10,000 feet in a dry range like the White Mountains of California.
The ultimate in reclusion as a strategy for survival. It works because they are the oldest trees on earth. Some trees here go back 5,000 years, many a couple thousand years old.
The tree was captured at 4:00 am ising moonlight as a light source in a one hour exposure,
