St. Ann’s church in Mott Haven is the oldest chiurch in the Bronx and was built by the the son of Gouverneur Morris and his wife, Ann, &8 people are buried on the church grounds including vaults underneath the floorboards of the church.
The Morris family owned much of the Bronx, having acquired the land from Jonas Bronck. Many Morris’ played essential roles in the formation of the Unirted States of America, through theier substantial work on the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Revolutionary War.
