Wendell, Wendall, any way you use it, is Germanic and connotes the wanderer, and, Wendell was just that.
I was walking home on a cloudy day and out of the corner of my eye i saw him, standing stockstill, and expressionless. I was struck by this attire and attitude. I would see him next at 167th and Morris Avenue, and i had my gear, but he slipped away. Months later i would catch him at Third Avenue and Claremont Avenue, in the sun, where he didn’t escape capture. Unfortunately the pictures show it. Life is short, for allof us.
And Mr. Headley is of the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn, often homeless. Where anything can jump off, and, still, Wendell don’t play around.
But most people wouldn’t know upon seeing him is that he is respected and well-known as a fashion designer. Coincidentally he has the same name as a person in the industry that is also well known from the past. The fact that of the matter is, Wendell is the ultimate in originality and freeing the creative spirit in fashion and in the living and displaying of his own life which has become art.
