One August evening i decided to walk down Bailey Avenue and shoot a Bronx Shoe Toss spot, the best, or worst, depending on your view, that’s presently in effect. They’re nuthin new, in fact the old black and whtie shots of the Bronx shoe toss spots are bigger.
When i got down there i bunch of guys who lived across the street in the buldings were relaxing next to the Deegan Expressway, and they got a bit of a show from me toninght. One guy came up to me, just to say how much he disliked that sight, and how long he had to look at it. Other young guys would come out of the building and really check me out. What was this guy doing?
They would learn in two days, i was shooting, not just some interesting thing, but i was there because it was gonna go, and i needed the proof before it does. Nice having witnesses, and, knowing the punch line would occur, if the thing disappeared.
After 11 years, that i know of, the shoes, and the wire they hang from, were finally gone in August, 2023. It was the elecric company, who were there, not specifically for that, but an overhaul of the elecrtical cables, in front of the building, along Baily Avenue in Kingsbridge.
Six months later two pairs were tossed on the new cables.
