Westchester Avenue station, designed by Cass Gilbert, who later designed the Woolworth Building. It opened in 1908 and the last train stopped there on December 31, 1937. It was built for the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad's Harlem River Branch, and also served the New York, Westchester & Boston Railway. It was not the Metro-North Harlem Line. Keil was a Czech-born hardware manufacturer whose factory was nearby. He commissioned Bronx architect Charles S. Clark, and the house was completed in 1906 in the neo-Renaissance style. Melrose was an Italian neighborhood that slowly disappeared. It's church, our Lady of Mount Carmel, was turned down in 2012.
The owner of the floor shop grew up in the neighborhood and still lives there, but on the executive towers on the grand Concourse. His mother was Judy and her mother was Judy and the store was kept by the same family.
