BATTER UP, CITI FIELD

Epigrams

In the Junkyards, where dozens of auto shops and salvage yards existed, we celebrate the arts and entertainment industry and its impact on city-owned park lands, like Flushing Meadows that was carved out of the dumps for the World’s Fairs and is known for its arts, sports and park facilities. The city leased the land along the Flushing River to industry, and, understanding the allure of the new Citi Field, the city sold 23 acres of it for one dollar to a developer.

What, generally powerless, working-class neighborhood is the next to get battered and fall to the expanding arts and entertainment industry?
