It’s a man’s output during his life, in an existential quest for pictures. What did you expect, an artist portfolio site? Self-promotion? Sales? The goal is to shoot the picture so that it embeds in the viewer’s mind, because i went to the source.
This site is simple, it’s easy to make your way around, using your head, in a free and open range of images that is based in truth, soul, fact and transendence through actual contact.
Obviusly, there has been nothing like the internet, wired like our nervous system and mind, it connects like no other media.
The map is caustic to a point. RealStill realizes the basic internet strength is to be wired like a colossal nervous system. Sometimes referred to as artificial intelligence. The internet is the disembodied self-directed electronic “brain” we now rely on, and we’re only at the beginning of artificial intelligence. Beyond self-driving electric cars, look at Musk’s Neuralink.
The brain map leaves out the Grand Hub of memory, the hippocampus, that is the center of it all.
Like “Super-agers” who have more volume in areas of the brain important for memory, most notably the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex, both photography and the world of ther internet, entirely mimic these sections of the brain These “super agers” also had better preserved connectivity between regions in the front of the brain that are involved in cognition. Does anyone out there deny this? Thus we have morons, conspiracists and dumb-ass trolls – deniers of human potential, lovers of chaos, and disruption, in this mix as well.
With no ads or distractions, use your own neurology to roam over this simple, but fully loaded, site, and enjoy the pleasures of the images of the physical truth of things, in a trenchant, participatory realism, based on experience.
The site is “living” in the sense, new work is being added, and, adding to long-term projects that never cease. The four departments are long-form BOOKS, medium-form FEATURED WORKS, short one shot EPIGRAMS and a MULTI-FORM, that places sound with image. All are accessible from the menu in the left corner, or, individually, in the four corners of each page. It’s simple and easy to find your way, although not mapped well, it’s still an open range.
It’s all post-facto, meaning i shot it first, put it in storage and went on to the next project, thus, so much work has been done, i may never get to post it all, even following my traditional work schedule – every moment i am awake. In the process of post-production i will discover entire books, each book shot over years, that i always thought was nothing, until i stopped shooting and took a look for myself. I’ve got a hundred articles and picture essays in folders, waiting to be put together for the site, with more still buried in the archive.
Can a website be art? I have no idea, but it’s ad-free, motivated by expressive fact, not commerce, nor knownness, in order to house an archive, meant to be a last will and testament, and drawn from at least one thing that’s better than art – life, and, also, the world. If art, it’s the art of experience, even truth, that, at a minimum, captures the physical presence of things and proceeds from there.
Veracious culture stems from genuine things and people. It has something at stake, and is unconcerned by the nature of representation, or, someone’s relation to this thing or that. A source artist is outside overvalued IP, PC or appropriation schemes. The source is novel reality, not unique selfhood.
Too documentary for art, too art for documentary, should be the sweet spot, not a sour one.Who goes to the source, embeds fully, lives, and works there, and lets it end there?
That’s rare and is supposed to be its value.
Of course, it’s better to become well-known and successful first, before thumbing your nose at institutions, or, better make an entertaining successful art ridiculing things like over-valuations in the art world, like Banksy, riding all the way to the bank, and still being truthful, while being able to fund your works at the expense of it.
All the work is paid for by my own labor, and, like MaMa Lily says, it’s selfless and thankless. It’s the nature of these sort of endeavors.
