On Crumb Avenue, a short street that runs norh and south between East 79th Street and Wheelock Road, for four blocks, was, at one time, part of the Polish or panzi section of the St. Clair-Superior neighborhood. The street went through the usual Rust Belt descent, particualrly, when, in 1980, White Motors (and a host of others) shut its large assembly plant three blocks north.
Crumb Avenue ends in the west at East 79th Street, which is missing from the signage.
Crumb Avenue is about homes. Along its length there are 13 missing homes represented as empty lots. There is also nine homes that are left from original days and there have been five new homes built and added to Crumb Avenue’s inventory.
Crumb Avenue ends at Wheelock Street five blocks east of East 79th Street.
