Vineyard Street in the Glenwood section of Yonkers is one of the core neighborhoods originally settled by immigrants working in the carpet mllls, Otis Elevator or other factories in the Sawmill Creek Valley, which lies below Vineyard Street. Although not as densely populated with immigrants as 100 years ago, it’s still an immigrant neighborhood, and, this building is entirely immigrant and Mexican.
It’s an area of empty, lots reflecting all the down years from the 1980s onward, but, there is some new housing built close by.
