WILLIAMSBURG WINTER WINDOW

View from my back window when i lived on the third floor. Clotheslines would catch the snow, like trees.

When these no-law home-made tenements were constructed there was no electricity, and an outhouse in each backyard. Electric was old, insulation would powder off wires inside walls, so dryers and air conditioners were not allowed.

Tenement life – looking out your window for anthills trees and a snow tha falls in Brooklyn.

This was in 1986, by 2007 there was only the view of our backyard, cemented over, and, with nothing but condos, that somhow went far above local zoning of five storeis to 17 stories, obscuring permanently, the old view out my window, now graphically demonstrating, the end of a phenomnal, historic and working-class place, all that obscured by opportunity.
