THE OLDER CATHOLICISM 3

Epigrams

A Lithuanian-American tribute inside St. George church, Superior Avenue, Cleveland. The shot was taken during the last Mass at the old Lithuanian parish on Superior Avenue in October, 2009. It’s Saint Sebatian shot with arrows.

The Slovenians were neighbors to the west and north, and Polish to the east. Although St. George closed, it moved further east and lives on, while Slovenian St. Vitus is very active and the Polish St. Casimir is still open, after miraculously reopening after its closure, although, not one paishioner lives close by anymore.

Deeply ethnic enclaves, when they go, the church is the last thing left.
