THE OFFICES OF REALSTILL 1986

The Jones & Laughlin mill in the background had just been shut. Another mill, Republic, that was even larger was next to this mill and both would become LTV Steel and live on.

There were two more bankruptcies for LTV Steel, and, in 2004 it was bought by ISG and  lit up once more, when Arcelor Mittal bought it, then sold it to Cleveland Cliffs in 2020.

Remote offices of RealStill were located deep in the Rust Belt where so much work needed to be done. The office itself sat between two huge integrated steel mills that would merge as one and are still in full operation. The only thing that has disappeared is the Clark Avenue Bridge which is where i am sitting. It was the longest in the city – over a mile.

Due to the pollution and noise of the mills when they reopened, RealStill moved on to other toxic sites where more mills need documentation and reopening. While the peace of wastelands aids productivity, RealStill is too happy to vacate the premises to do the work that has to be done, and to be done right, must be done locally.
