Shorty in 2018, five years before his murder on these streets in a fight with someone he knew. After partying all night, they fought. Shorty was small and tough, and got the upper hand immeditely, until he was beaten with a pipe, then run over. All of it witnessed by Dave, a 24/7 sober scrapper, as well as, Robin’s camera that was protecting his tools.
He came up from Mexico as a teenager and never left the Junkyards next to Citi Field in Queens, where he also lived as one of the 24/7 crowd, a rough bunch of homeless mechanis and auto body men with a predeliction for intoxicants.
Bicycles are commonly used to move and sell parts, especially tires in the Iron Triangle. Some auto and salvage workers, can’t afford a car in their situation.
