In Newark the old Pabst brewing plant is being demolished. The water tank was a functioning 55,000 gallon water tank and beer landmark since 1945 when Pabst purchased the plant from Hoffman Beverages which modeled the tank on their ginger ale product.
Pabst closed in the eighties but the tank hung on until 2006 before demolition. The tank bottle was made of copper and steel and was seventy feet tall.
