The ad is still fading today from a time when Joe Columbo, of all people, was associated with political correctness. Although, the Hillbillies remain the one group it’s ok to slam, and they themselves enjoy and recount the jokes about them better than anyone, i’m sure that’slost on the PC and IP crowds.
Never achieving the socially/politically protected status of something like, the n-word, they do flip it in the same way the blacks do, but don’t demand exclusivity to the joke by not being offended if any person outside of Appalachia wats to join in nd crack jokes. Yeah, there are things that are not funny. It’s actually smart, clever, defusive and inclusive.
