Across Fordham Road from my apartment, roots meet gneis called Fordham.
In 2020 construction began for a new apartment, in the area, which used to be the back of an old tire repair shop. It took three momths of pounding and excavating to tear out the thirty foot cliff to the back of the property.
Thanks to geology, the Bronx can be explained by the theory of differential erosion, of the Fordham gneiss that is its bedrock and is over one billion years old.
