On Webster Avenue near Gun Hill Road homes are built on Fordham gneiss and Manhattan schist whch is the dominant geology of both upper Manhattan and the west Bronx. Homes on high, are common in these sections of the city. Here, the highlands of the West Bronx ends as the heights level off at Webster Avenue and the Bronx River which these homes overlook.
