BRONX FALL RUNNERS

Epigrams

Running in the best park in NYC, and, to do so, especially in the fall, is one of the great pleasures of the city, where, in a city park, you can find places that look like the Hudson Highlands, and, much history with the Croton Viaduct and trails that run with it.

George Washington frequented the mansion, still on the grounds today. Even events like the massacre of Indian warriors who had sided with the American revolutionaries, or, sites like a slave cemetery for the workers of the esate, although slavery became very unpopular in New York, as the divisions between north and soputh evolved from the time of the first Continental Congress.

The giant parade grounds in front of the stone mansion was used in World War I as an encampment and training ground. The park was known for its rugby and soccer matches, particualrly in the Woodlawn section of the park, and, cricket is huge on the parade grounds on weekends. But it’s known as national center for cross-country running, and hosts numerous national and local running events every year. The park also has a golf course, set in the valley formed by Tibbet’s Creek running up to Yonkers, where the Croton Viaduct Trail continues north through New York State.
