On Euclid Avenue, the Black Barbers’ Club is situated in a long block of retail shops topped by a couple floors of offices and apartments, as well as, an abondoned movie theatre that was called the Euclid. On street level there are two bars and a deli, but it’s mostly shut on the retail level.
To the west were huge General Electric Plants, including light bulb manufacture. Behind the building is a complex of abandoned buildings that once made vacuum cleaners. Across the street is an abanodoned stone structure, said to be the oldest in the city. After WW II it was devoted to train hobysi and coillectors. The double doors had a big diesel engine painte on it, head-on view. When the doors opened you would hear the sound of the locomotive and whistle.
