It was the complete package of the bust-out variety – bar, restaraunt and motel, all situated, essentially in one of America’s great badlands. It’s an island, 40 miles west of Casper, a badlands working-class oasis, and the only place you will find all this convenience set in the badlands themselves, and at really reasonable prices.
At twilight there was no 30 mile drive to the location, nor miles long hiking. You could chomp down on a steak, have a drink, go bact to the room, gear up, and walk out your door and directly into the badkands park.
Unfortunately the Hell’s Half-Acre complex is gone, but the badland formations still abound.
